Time of my life

Confessions Part 1

How did you meet your husband?

We met in university in year 1998. He was in the third year when I entered UKM. We did not hit it off the first time we met. He was mean, stern and too “holy” to my liking. We got to know each other better through serving in the Christian Fellowship, Malaysia Campus Crusade for Christ and our local church. But we were never close until much later as I was too afraid to talk to him. Him being high and mighty and all that… :D

How would your life be any different were you not married to your husband?

I’d probably be in Australia with a PhD degree if I were not with him. Or New Zealand or Singapore. You can find this driven career woman in one of the countries above. Toiling in some important job, living from Starbucks to Starbucks, like any city girl.

You moved to Kuching as your husband is a Sarawakian. How do you find Kuching?

Ya, my husband is a Sibu boy. We decided that to be fair to all, we should settle somewhere between Sibu and Banting. Instead of South China Sea, we ended up in Kuching.

Aside form food, Kuching is better than KL. The reasons are (in no particular order): I do not get lost in this city, people here are more relaxed and friendly, I feel safer, it rains more here, it only takes 10 minutes to get to our office, I do not have to live in a condominium etc.

What are the things you miss most when you move to Kuching?

FOOD. I especially miss nasi paprik, nasi goreng pattaya, roti canai with lots of dhal curry, vaday, mee rojak, wan tan mee (WM style), pan mee (WM style), Seremban siew pau etc etc etc.
