Gosh, I can not believe how long I’ve not updated my blog. For those who know me, I am still alive. And well. And happy. For those who care to know more, read on. Here’s a quick update on what my life’s been like since you last heard from me.
I am still exclusively pumping and feeding my son breast milk. I’m only pumping 4 times a day (ie 6am, 12 noon, 6pm, 10.30pm) now which frees me up for so many things in life.. all except blogging hmm, strange.. I go out more now and can actually enjoy dinner outside the house without having to rush back to pump.
My latest passion is cooking. I like to read up recipes and imagine cooking the dishes (because my hands are tied to actually cook them). Lately, me and my good old friend, Lu Chee, have been going to cooking classes together. It is very fun to learn together and spend time with a dear friend that I am really fond of.
As for my son, he is taking 2-3 teaspoons of rice cereal 2 times a day on top of his milk now. I plan to increase his solid intake gradually from 2 to 3 times a day. According to the many books I read, his main nourishment should still comes from milk, so I’m not going to rush things. Besides that, I’m introducing one food at a time. His next gourment courses: apple, pear, potato. All pureed, mashed and strained of course.
Hua Zhe sleeps from 11pm-7/8am everyday. I can hear your oohs and aahs from here. Ya, he sleeps through the night when he was 3 months old. We did not do anything, it just happened. And now let me tell you his day time sleeping pattern in your deafening oohs and aahs. He does not sleep much during the day. He naps after almost every meal for 30 minutes – 1 hour. Sometimes his naps can be as short as 20 minutes. My mother-in-law call him “ma ni niu” in Fuchow which roughly means a kitten that wakes up ever so often to pee. Don’t ask me the origin of the saying. I do not have a cat. Does kitten wake up to pee often? Beats me. Heck, I am not even Fuchow.
Hua Zhe is now 6 months and 1 week young. He never ceases to amaze me everyday. From a helpless infant, he has become an alert, active and happy baby of his own mind. Now he can:
- laugh out loud
- squeal
- creep and change directions in a blink of an eye
- turn over from the tummy to the back and to the tummy and to the back etc. You get the picture.
- grab things. Put the valuables away!
- stand holding on for balance only
- bounce. His favourite pastime!
- sit with one hand on the floor for support
- babble “ma-ma”. Don’t be too happy yet, he only says “ma-ma” when he cries ie when he is being coerced (it certainly seems so from his wailing) into taking a nap
- respond to his name – Zhe Zhe. He does not know he is called Nathan too
Well, that’s all that I can think of and have time to share now. I have chores to catch up now being a very busy and important person and all. Ta-ta!
