“I want milk milk”

"Milk Milk"

"Milk Milk"

Remember the magical moment when you child first waved bye-bye at your prompting?

To me, it is not only a tangible proof that my child understands what I say. But to this paranoid mom (“Smiling at 6 weeks old, check. Sitting unsupported at 6 months old, check. ”), it is a reassurance that he is well on his way in becoming a sociable little fellow, hooray!

This little fellow, by the way, upped the ante this morning.

He was unusually fussy during bath today. He refused to sit and kept clinging on to me. He squirmed and vocalised non-stop when I dressed him. I was starting to feel impatient when he suddenly opened and closed his palm twice, indicating “milk”!

I could not believe my eyes! We started using baby sign language with Zhe Zhe about 3 weeks ago. He watched intently but never signed back. We finally witnessed our fruit of labour today!

I gave him milk right at the instant and he downed it in 1 minute straight.

Mok Zhe Zhe, 8 months and 3 weeks old, signed for milk for the very first time on 8 October 2009.

Swoon~

  1. Clever boy! When I read your blog, then only I realised that I’ve forgotten to teach my little Hannah abt the baby sign language..

Last week, I started to teach her the sign for milk when I give her the bottle..but she doesnt care at all~hahaha..

TS wonder why do I wanna teach her the milk sign as Hannah has oledi know how to ask for milk … (Hannah will say “nen.. nen.. nen.. nen… ” until she get her milk…

but later we found out that she will say that whenever she wants the milk, water, biscuits, bread.. for her, all food are called “nen, nen, nen…..”

Wah, Hannah is only 2 weeks older than Hua Zhe but already knows how to vocalise “nen nen”! Very fast leh! Isn’t it a wonder to see how fast babies learn and grow? It’s just like a miracle! :)
